Fraud policy

The Waarborgfonds Motorverkeer can only perform its tasks in a swift and friendly manner when there is a solid basis of trust between it and its clients. Yet, fraud still is commonplace.
There will always be those who will try to disadvantage the fund or insurers and strangely enough, this is often not seen as a serious violation of the law - don't insurers have more than enough money?

People tend to forget that the Waarborgfonds is financed from contributions of insured persons, who would not like to see those contributions increased because of fraud.
It frequently happens that people claim a dent in their vehicle while they know it wasn't caused by another vehicle, but by a pole. The dent might even have been self-inflicted. That is fraud.
The "arranging" of a witness, who knows nothing of the accident or its results. That is fraud.

Any request for compensation is being scrutinised by us for signals which may indicate fraud is involved. If we see such signals, a further investigation will follow. If fraud can be proved, we will

  • reject the claim;
  • if a payment has been done already, it will be recovered, including any additional cost;
  • report the fraud to the police;
  • report the fraud to Stichting CIS (Central Information System), which will make it difficult for a fraudster to get insurance at a regular premium.

If you have any questions about our fraud policy, please send us an email.
